BU is a great school if your goingQuite BrightBiology
BU is a great school if your going to come here learn a few things graduate and move straight onto your career. If you have any plans of going to graduate school, however, this is not the place for you. I know it seems like the students here tend to bitch and moan a lot, but GRADE DEFLATION is real. My best friend had a 91 average in an astronomy class and her teacher told her that would translate to a C+ on her transcript. I went with her to her advisors office and his solution was to "drop the class". The administration doesn't give a damn about its students. Another one of my friends was told "if you don't like it, transfer", and I personally have had problems with housing, advising, and financial aid on numerous occasions. The institution only cares about money and nothing else. Honestly, coming to this school was the worst decision of my life. I love the friends I have made here and the social life is amazing but if presented with a choice now... I would have rather gone to community college.

Question
I transferred from a well-known midwest university ~Quite BrightBiology
I transferred from a well-known midwest university ~ two years ago, so I'm from the midwest. I chose to transfer to BU because my bf was moving to Boston for residency and somehow he convinced me to go too! Anyways I was sad to find out how cold and horrible BU really is - past reviews are on point, this school is really a "money making machine". Wish I went to a different school.

PROFESSORS: The Biology department is probably THE WORST, the professors DO NOT CARE about teaching, they shouldn't even be allowed to teach, they only care about their research or belittling their students to make themselves feel more important. Honestly, WTF is wrong with these people? Why is everyone so mean and rude?

GPA: GRADE DEFLATION IS VERY EVIDENT as well. I did not want to believe it, but its true. It is extremely difficult to get an A here, I try super hard each semester and am always disappointed, literally struggling to have a B/B+ average GPA. This will make it even more difficult for me when I will apply for medical/grad schools.

PEOPLE: Unfriendly, cold, rude, no one talks to each other in class or tries to get to know new people. No one is 'down to earth'. As a transfer AND from the midwest (where people are generally super-friendly) it was really disheartening and made me feel like something was wrong with me, but then I realized its really not me! Its these people!! :)

BOSTON: Good to visit (one weekend is all you need to see EVERYTHING), sucks to live here. Too expensive, too cold, VERY WINDY all the time!!! Nothing to do. People are snobs, most are unattractive, think they are better than everyone else. Stupid accents. No class. No nightlife. Bars/"Pubs" are gross. Drive like maniacs. I took 10 minutes to write all of this so that no one else has to suffer!! For the money people are paying to go here, the students deserve so much better. Sad.
