I have no idea where to begin. NYU has this new thing about bringing new professors to the school from foreign countries. I currently have a prof who seems like he just came from China, and he's my Calc prof!!!! every time he's about to finsih explaining something important, he begins to laugh, and you have no idea what he's just said. Another professor just came from Cairo (Egypt) and my TA from the class is also Egyptian. You're wasting so much money on classes you don't want to take to begin with, just because they're "required" MAP courses. As for the Pre-Med program, I have no idea how it works at the school. Yeah I know I need to take sciences, but i'm not allowed to take sciences until i'm finished with a couple MAP courses. Thanks to the recession, they've made a lot of budget cuts, and I have no idea how i'll pay for the next semester since my mom is the only one paying (my dad is very sick). The people (don't even get me started) are two faced, racist jerks. Just a small anecdote. One tie I was at a lecture, and the prof was talking about how Islam spread really fast through reproduction. Then some fool in the audience raises his hand and says something to the affect of, "do you mean reproduce like the Hispanics in this country causing White americans to be outnumbered?" everyone almost fell off their chairs laughing. I took great offense to that. Not only am I hispanic, but i know for a fact that the reason there are a lot of us is because of IMMIGRATION! the professor was so shocked he had to tell the guy to repeat the question. I seriously felt like punching him. I can't even relate to the girls in my class. They're like LITTLE PARIS HILTONS RUNNING AROUND! all they do is B!&* over the smallest things, and theire voices are annoying. If you're looking for a LIBERAL school, a school where people are open minded an polite, keep searching. There is no diversity whatsoever, and the people are cold. They won't hold the door for you, they will literally go out of their wasy as to not hold the door for you by just opening the dorry wide enough to let them through. Countless are the times when I've laughed watching how they underestimated their bag's size and close the door on the bags!!! hehehe you'll also be nauseated by how many people walking around with Starbucks coffee there are. Personally, I'm transferring out of the school. I HATE NYU!!!! it gives no chance for people low on "bling" to receive and education. and te FUNNY thing IS that all they talk about in the convocation ceremony, is how it WAS a school for the POOR. PSHT YEAH RIGHT! it's survival of the richest there. people seem like they came out of an episode of Gossip girl.

responseIm a freshman in high school and this was my dream college but now I see I will hate it seeing that everything you explained is EVERYTHING that ticks me off. Especially the racist.
responseThe commenter complains about racism, but neglects to hide her own xenophobic attitudes. The Chinese prof's personal tic has nothing to do with being Chinese, and she didn't even mention why she has a problem with the Egyptian one. I enjoyed reading the review because it exposed that the author is a hypocrite and doesn't belong here anyway.
commentLook, I'm just saying this is how it is and whether or not you like it, tough nuggies no one forced you to read this post in the first place. You mention that the professors accent has nothing to do with his being Chinese. Well for sure, we can both agree I would have been able to understand him if he actually SPOKE ENGLISH FLUENTLY. I definitely see no hypocrisy in my post. Might I intrest you to a dictionary?

responseHah! By 'personal tic' I meant the fact that you mentioned that he tends to laugh at the end of his sentences. Not all Chinese people do that.

Since you do not know the meaning of much of what I wrote, and misspelled interest in your first post, maybe you need a dictionary or other form of language aids?

I wouldn't even comment on the idea that "nobody forced me to read this post", which is standard reply whenever people can't find a more convincing argument. Of course no one forced me to, but I have a perfect right to read and comment on posts on this site. If you cannot accept sound criticism of your stance and expect only people who agree to read and comment on what you say, you are proving all over again that you hate people who are different.

responseI swear. You are so pompous. I don't really think you've made a valid point. Instead, all you want to do is attack a person who is speaking their mind. That's not the only professor I've come across who had such a miserable accent. I'm sure that many others would agree with me. The person didn't say that all Chinese people laugh at the end of their sentences. Notice how those are two SEPARATE IDEAS!!!!! And if they spelled interest right the first time what's the point of a dictionary genius?! Politically correct terms are for retards. Now, keep in mind, I'm not insinuating anything, but if the shoe fits, I say wear it.
responseThe person was insinuating that the fact that he laughs has something to do with him being Chinese. Most professors display some quirky mannerisms, but notice how she marked out the Chinese guy. Also, she didn't ever say why she disliked the Egyptian prof/TA, but she just implied there is something wrong with having an Egyptian instructor.

I know there are a few bigots who make comments like the guy did about Hispanic birth rates, but most people at NYU aren't like that. The others were probably laughing at the guy's ignorance and not at his comment.

Most people hold doors for me and I hold doors for everyone, so that comment is not true either.

Lastly, I may be one of the poorest kids at NYU; my family moved to the USA in 2007 and my parents work near-minimum wage jobs. I still made great friends here and my finances have in no way held myself back from having a social life.

And the poster did spell interest "intrest" (see above), hence the comment about the dictionary.

commentFrankly speaking, to find information about worlds population or about particular countries and cities, I visit this website https://populationstat.com/egypt/cairo . There are different graphs and statistics.
