i'm gonna start off by saying that bc is a good school, academically, its a solid education. i was challenged alot in high school, and class rank was competative so bc doesn't seem as challenging as i thought it would be, but it is a solid education. the downside though is the core can be a pain. you don't really get to explore your major or potential major courses until you work on getting your core courses out of the way. i felt like the core was like going through a high school curriculum, but thats just me. it can be helpful though in showing students what is out there so they find out their interests, but i'm pretty certain what i want to do so i found the core useless.the professors are pretty nice, their office hours are usually open and they're willing to advise and help with the work covered in class.the workk isn't too hard at all its certaintly managable which is good.

the social scene - bc is a predominately white(irish) catholic, school with a wealthy student body. many parents send their children here, so they come from legacy. and many of the alumni are white. therefore there is not alot of diversity present at bc. i believe bc would like to have a diverse campus but its administration and student body don't seem to share the same views. also, as meant by diversity i don't only mean black and white, but economic diversity, sexual preference and religious (yes its a jesuit school but there are alot of ppl here who had no clue when they applied or are nowhere near catholic). the conservative attitude of the campus based off the fact that it is a religious school is a turn off for liberals and although many people are nice, the school sometimes seems uninviting if you're not the "typical bc student".

on weekends (starting on wednesdays or thursdays) students often go out and get drunk at on campus parties in the mods, the senior dorms, or off campus on commonwealth ave. most students don't go off campus to party and comm ave is not considered off campus lol i mean they don't go into the city or to other schools to party, most stay around bc every single weekend which is a shame. parties revolve alot around alcohol. also most of social life revolves around bc sports so if you don't like those, its going to be hard to make friends. if you seem uninterested, you will be ignored.

on the other hand, the food is good. the campus is pretty but theres not that much grass here just about three areas of grass on main campus and thats about it. if you're a freshman do not live on newton, its apart from everything exciting and the bus (eventhough the drivers are heaven-sent) is a fucking pain in the ass. basically if you're uncomfortable with many of the things listed here, or if diversity is a large issue to you, make a long visit first, see how you like it… but be warned its not the right place for everyone.
