Did you come into the school as a transfer or a freshman? Would someone with a 2.5 GPA be admitted into the school? Or is Computer Science one of the harder departments? |
Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
NEIU receives a lot of negative flack, most of which are undeserved. The faculty works with the students, given that you're willing to work hard and learn. The Computer Science faculty are the hardest working individuals in the campus, these guys will jump through hoops for you, the student. As a CS major, if you're willing to work with faculty, you can definitely make a difference at NEIU as we're doing with the Computer Science society. However, I must admit that the school (especially the C.S. Dept.) has its fair share of idiots, and it can be frustrating. If you don't mind reading stuff outside of your typical course load, don't feel shy to do so. The Library has really good materials if you just take the time to go in there and find stuff you're interested in. And if you can get your professor to love you, you can definitely get a lot of help from your profs. NEIU profs are very good about helping students.NEIU is a commuter school, so don't expect a social life. This isn't a campus whose social objective is to meet the typical college life. Far from it, I worked full-time while going to school, and I hung out with friends from and outside of NEIU. If you think that the college experience is overrated, this is a school. The tuition is cheap, the faculty rocks, and if you're willing to get to know people, you will meet a lot of awesome people here.
