Brown's a great place overall. There's great flexibility without a core curriculum, lots of different activities to become involved in, and a faculty that really seems to care about its students. While you don't get your "hand held" here, that allows you to "come into your own" because of the wide range of academic opportunities (e.g. independent study class, special group projects, becoming an undergrad TA, etc.). This is definitely a place for the go-getter type. People are also pretty friendly here overall; as long as you try and put yourself out there, you shouldn't have any problem meeting new friends. All and all, Brown is a great place to be that really focuses on its undergrads well.
