STCC as an educational institution is great. Not so brightEngineering Department
STCC as an educational institution is great. The student body on the other hand is horrible. If you came here to learn, please expect that you are walking into 13th grade. The number of special needs students have skyrocketed, the number of people attending has skyrocketed, and the violence has skyrocketed. In the past two years there have been two stabbings on campus, and we have not been notified until HOURS later. The professors are great, helpful, and genuinely care about the students. You will run into "hard" professors (a.k.a professor that actually want you to learn the subject) and then you will run into easy professors (ones that will let you pick your own exam questions.) If you have another option...take it. The student body here is very judgmental, harsh, and ignorant. In one of my classes there was a student with a brain injury that a majority of students would make fun of. Seriously guys? The funny thing was she did better than them on the exams. You will run into kids who are desperate to fit in and talk back to professors, cliques, etc. I'm out of this school and I will never recommend this place to anyone. In some of my classes I felt like I was in 2nd grade.

Question
Department head and professors are more interested inQuite BrightArchitecture
Department head and professors are more interested in how much money they can make of the state rather than helping students. My over enrolling classes and teaching more classes than they can handle (to maximize their income and state pension), they short change the students. Most of the students in this so called architecture program never become registered architects. The program is not accredited and it is clear why it isn't. The department head lets the students teach themselves while he tells stories and spends most of the time giving useless quizzes and wandering in and out of the classroom and lab. Don't go here, go to another school that really teaches and then transfer into a 4 year program.
