Boston University has a very unique campus, bothBrightBiology
Boston University has a very unique campus, both architecturally and personally. Coming from the north east I basically knew what to expect weather wise and with the city atmosphere. But if your coming from a small town and you are not prepared for a city aspect, then BU just isn't the college for you. Everyone has their comfort zones and the preferences that allow them to study and work comfortably. Even though BU has an amazing city aspect of campus and there isn't a large amount of actual campus-y like area.(ie. no quad) We terriers make up for it in academics and collegiate pride.

To BU, you are a number (with a bank account!). My father lost his job and was unemployed for a year... when we asked for financial aid they refused to help us, even though I almost four-pointed my first semester. Students are awkward and arrogant. I have my own group of friends, but classes are so large and people are generally close-minded so it is difficult to talk to others. Being in Boston is one of the few upsides to this school... there is always something to do if you want to get away. I'm transferring next year. I could get this experience for $30k less, somewhere else.

Boston University is a good school, but that'sBrightEducation
Boston University is a good school, but that's bout it. The class difficulty (speaking from experience in the college of arts and sciences and the school of education) is moderately high, and the classes suffer from moderate grade deflation (making it increasingly hard to get a higher GPA). The student resources are vast, with a large library, university-wide wifi access, and great writing/research programs (though the student health service is pathetically unhelpful at times). There is school spirit, especially surrounding the BU mens hockey team. Social life is what you make it, there are many extracurricular clubs, student groups, and an actively growing greek life. You can find parties easily, but they are hard to get into due to the the police being very hard on house parties. Overall, it would not be difficult to go to BU and just coast through the next 4 years without a problem, but the school does have some fun and growth opportunities to offer. And it's in Boston, that's a plus.
