Seriously - BU is a large University ofQuite BrightEnglish
Seriously - BU is a large University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. I thought there would be very few frats here, but there are MIT frats, Tufts frats, BC etc etc etc. I live on West Campus where people have forgotten that they are not in high school anymore - a lot of people are very cliquey and such - not that i wasnt expecting this in college, but i thought it would be minimal at least. in addition, the classes are fucking boring - the only interesting im taking is Greek History - even my english major class is a waste of my time. i know how to write an essay. the dorms on west also suck, though in the coming years i hear housing gets better. anyway. i just personally dislike the bureaucracy and mainstream aspect of the school. boston is great though. it all depends on what youre looking for in college.

Question
I love my classes and my professors, butBrightEnglish
I love my classes and my professors, but there are a lot of snooty people, a lot of designer clothes and expensive name brands. If I go to class looking scrubby I feel like people are looking down on me. A lot of people I see walking around have a sort of rich-person snob aura. Other than that I feel like the administration is against me, the "system" wants to bring me down, just like it was in high school! I transferred from a smaller liberal school and it was so much better being treated as a responsible human being, without restrictions or curfews. Also, BU is entirely about money. You feel like you are being conned all the time. BU will milk you for everything you have in all areas of life and sometimes it feels like they think that is your only worth. My small school had a better sense of community, it felt like the adminstration wanted what was best for its students education. Here they'll sacrifice class size to build a flashy new building. Bad priorities. Although there are many good things about BU, especially the great professors, especially in the English department, and some of the people that I've met, I think you get a lot more out of a smaller school.

Question
BU is definitely not a party school, forQuite BrightUndecided
BU is definitely not a party school, for one. If you enjoy clubbing every night of the week... it may be okay with you... but otherwise it sucks. The dorms are small and strict, and there is NO cable!!! I do enjoy my classes and the faculty are wonderful. Yet BU lacks all school spirit, and I really feel I have missed out on a true college experience. I would not mind coming here for graduate school I suppose.
